The compact remote terminal unit SIMATIC RTU3031C enables positioning via GPS and monitors remote measuring points, even when no local power grid is available. Due to its optimized energy consumption,the remote terminal unit (RTU) can be used without external power sources. It supplies its own power via battery or accumulator with solar panel. Also the connected sensors can be supplied with power via the RTU. The RTU records and buffers values of the connected sensors with a time stamp. Data is transmitted to the control center with an integrated UMTS modem via mobile wireless. An inte grated GPS receiver enables positioning and time synchronization. The configuration of the RTU is very simple and can be performed remotely using a web browser.
